It has been reported that the state minister of information technology Anusha Rehman claimed on Monday that Pakistan will soon be able to get 5G technology by the end in the year 2020.

The minister has reported having said that the government will soon step up to take serious actions on the connectivity problems in the remote n backward areas of the country. She also focused on the issue of women empowerment on IT. She also gave statements on ITU-PTA Asia-Pacific Regulator’s Roundtable 2016 in Islamabad. She also stated that soon Pakistan will become the country to acquire Over-The-Top (OTT) framework for information technology.

OTT will allow all the broadband users to directly get the content from the third party people.

Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and CEO of National ICT Research and Development (R&D) Fund, Dr. Syed Ismail Shah also supported Anusha Rehman statement.

ITU-PTA Asia-Pacific Regulators’ Roundtable and the ITU-PTA International Training Program (ITP) 2016 initiated in Islamabad from 18th July under the supervision of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

There were participants from over 23 countries including the representatives from China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The minister also said that the consumer right and the privacy of the user are one of the main issues reported recently.
