The concept of the franchise-based T20 league for youngsters – locals and some overseas players the plan was announced to the PCB just two weeks ago. The goal is to select players in the 15-19 age group via a draft process. The PCB has stated that international cricketers can be accompanied by a parent and the cost will be borne by either the franchise or by the organisers.
The structure of cricket in Pakistan has seen numerous changes throughout the years. However, the route for players of the age group is generally well-organized with levels that span the under-15s and the under-19s. The players of the older age groups were nurtured through longer-format games, with three-day and two-day matches along with one-dayers.
They’ve not experienced the T20 format in the development phase of their careers in line to PCB rules. The only exception was the PSL in which every franchise must play at least one new player for every match. This has led to several new faces being discovered in the past.
