Toyota has finally revealed its electric car designed for its Chinese market. It is bZ3, and the new model competes against Tesla Model 3, Changan Shenlan SL03.

Toyota’s electric car (EV) was the product from their partnership (JV) together with FAW Group and BYD. The company’s initial EV called the bZ4X was the result of its partnership together with GAC Motor.

According to different sources, it is believed that the firm is planning to introduce its new electric vehicle in Q4 2022.

Information

The compact car will probably create a niche for itself in the market of affordable EVs. The front design is similar to the bZ4X’s sharp headlights with angular shapes and a DRL running across its entire width and a distinct bumper and a distinctive bonnet.

The profile on the side is comprised of sharp lines, massive multi-spoke alloy wheels, and an impressive C-pillar. The rear features some unique styling elements like an asymmetrical front bumper, and taillights that extend across the length of the vehicle. In contrast to Prius the bZ3 appears to be equipped with a trunk, not an open hatch with a liftback.

Toyota bZ3 comes with the BYD Blade the LFP lithium-ion battery, however BYD has not yet revealing the size of the battery. It will feature one of two rear-axle-mounted electric motors. One motor at the lowest trim level generates the equivalent of 183 horsepower (hp) and the other trim level has 244 hp.

The car will come with all the latest features which are part of Toyota Safety Sense such as the lane-keeping assistant as well as collision warning and avoidance feature adaptive cruise control and autonomous braking, auto High Beam, Road Sign assistance and many more.

While Toyota has yet to announce the cost of the bZ3, speculations suggest that the EV will be able to compete with low-cost EVs within China.
