India plans to launch nationwide coverage of 5G and the announcement is expected to be made on October 1 at India Mobile Congress.
The strategy is likely to be unveiled in a joint presentation by Mukesh Ambani India’s Reliance Industries’ Chairman Bharti Airtel’s CEO Sunil Mittal, and Vodafone Idea India’s CEO Ravinder Takkar.
5G will initially launch in seven cities, with the intention of expanding across the country over the next two years as reported by Times Now.

The auction for India’s 5G spectrum was completed on the 1st of August and local carriers purchased the total amount value of $29 billion in spectrum.
Airtel hopes to start 5G service in the five major cities prior to expanding across the nation. Bharti Airtel plans to achieve widespread coverage by the end of March 2024 following the signing of 5-G agreements to network in partnership with Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung to begin 5G deployments.
“Vodafone Idea has actively participated in the 5G spectrum auction and acquired the mid-band 5G spectrum in 17 priority circles and millimetre wave 5G spectrum in 16 circles. This will enable Vodafone Idea to embark on its 5G rollout journey in the country,” stated Vodafone Idea non-executive chairman, Ravinder Takkar.
