The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to unveil the 18-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand today, Sunday. The series is scheduled to commence on April 18, with the Kiwi team arriving in Pakistan on April 14.

Babar Azam is poised to reclaim his position as captain for the forthcoming series, following his recent reinstatement as Pakistan’s white-ball skipper.

Anticipation has been mounting ahead of the squad announcement, particularly with fast bowler Haris Rauf still recuperating from a shoulder injury.

Among the players under consideration for the series are Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, Muhammad Rizwan, and others. There have been suggestions that Shaheen Shah Afridi might sit out part of the series to manage his workload, aligning with PCB’s strategy to ease the burden on key fast bowlers.

The squad is expected to include Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Shadab Khan, Usama Mir, Naseem Shah, Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir, Zaman Khan, Usman Khan, Wasim Jr, Irfan Niazi, and Abbas Afridi.

Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman’s hand injury is undergoing assessment, and the final decision will be made based on the physician’s recommendations.
