Western Digital has introduced groundbreaking storage solutions at the 2024 Future of Memory and Storage Conference, unveiling the world’s first 8 TB SD card and a 16 TB external SSD. These innovations mark a significant leap in memory and storage technology, highlighting the company’s commitment to pushing the limits of data capacity. The new products include the SanDisk 8 TB SDUC UHS-I SD card and the 16 TB SanDisk Desk Drive external SSD. The 8 TB SD card adheres to the Secure Digital Ultra Capacity (SDUC) standard, offering read speeds of up to 100MBps, making it ideal for consumer devices.

This announcement follows Western Digital’s recent release of a 4 TB MicroSD card, reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to expand storage options. While pricing and release dates for these new products remain undisclosed, they are expected to carry premium price tags. The storage solutions are particularly aimed at professional photographers and videographers who require extensive storage capacity.
