In a major effort to enhance digital skills among the youth of Sindh, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a new scholarship program offering 1,000 Google Career Certificates to students from 10 public universities across the province.
The announcement, made on Friday, signals a significant move towards improving the employability of local graduates in the technology sector.
The initiative was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Universities & Boards Department and Tech Valley. This partnership will facilitate the distribution of these valuable certifications to students in Sindh’s public higher education institutions. A key highlight of the program is its commitment to gender equality, with 50% of the scholarships specifically reserved for female students. This collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the tech industry represents a concerted effort to bridge the digital skills gap and prepare the youth of Sindh for the rapidly changing job market.
During the MoU signing ceremony, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah highlighted the growing importance of Information Technology (IT) in today’s job market. He stressed that acquiring IT skills is crucial for young people looking to secure employment in an increasingly digital world. The Chief Minister also pointed out that the IT sector offers a diverse range of skills and certifications, enabling individuals to earn a livelihood from the comfort of their homes. This initiative aims to equip students with internationally recognized IT certifications, boosting their competitiveness on a global scale. By providing access to these valuable credentials, the program seeks to empower Sindh’s youth, not only helping them find employment but also enabling them to contribute to the country’s technological progress.
