Supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have gathered in the capital city, Islamabad, demanding the release of party founder Imran Khan and advocating for the independence of the judiciary. The protests, now in their third day, have caused widespread disruption, with major roads blocked and mobile and internet services suspended.

Routes connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad have remained closed, severely impacting daily life in the twin cities as well as parts of Punjab. Business activities have been largely halted, with key areas such as Murree Road facing significant traffic disruptions. Containers have been placed on various streets leading to Murree Road, creating more obstacles for local residents. From Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi to Faizabad, multiple blockades have been set up.

The protests have also caused difficulties for patients seeking medical attention, and the suspension of mobile internet services has hit online businesses hard. Public transportation has been affected, with the metro bus service suspended for the third day and no inter-city commute options available.

Authorities have announced that mobile phone services are expected to be restored soon. While the Expressway and Kashmir Highway in Islamabad remain open, all routes to and from the Red Zone are blocked until Sunday morning. The M1 motorway to Lahore and the M2 motorway to Peshawar have been reopened after maintenance on the M1 was completed. Residents are advised to plan their travel accordingly as the situation remains fluid.
