Rawalpindi’s district administration has intensified its crackdown on violations of dengue prevention protocols, with the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control (ET&NC) office sealed on Saturday after dengue larvae were discovered in samples taken from the building.
The action follows an inspection tour led by Focal Person on Dengue, Tahira Aurangzeb, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Shazia Rizwan, and Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, along with health officials, to various government departments across the city. During the inspection, larvae were found in four water points within the ET&NC office, leading to its immediate sealing.
Additionally, larvae were discovered in the Social Welfare office, which was also sealed by the authorities. The Deputy Commissioner has instructed relevant authorities to file cases against the officers responsible for failing to comply with the government’s dengue preventive measures.
The DC emphasized that unannounced inspections would continue across government offices to ensure strict adherence to dengue control protocols. He further warned that legal action would be taken against those found negligent in carrying out their duties.
