The Lahore High Court has ordered the Punjab Inspector General of Police to take action regarding the lack of response to an incident at a Lahore college, which has ignited violent protests in the provincial capital and surrounding areas. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has summoned the Punjab IG to appear for a hearing on Friday, along with a report on recent incidents in colleges and universities. The judge expressed deep concern over the impact these events have had on the life of the affected girl, regardless of whether the incidents actually occurred.

The proceedings were prompted by a petition from citizen Azam Butt. During the session, Chief Justice Neelum criticized the police’s inaction after videos and images of the incident were made public. She emphasized that the Anti-Rape Act prohibits revealing the identity of victims and questioned how such sensitive information had been allowed to circulate.
