The food safety teams of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) destroyed a large quantity of unhealthy and expired food items and imposed hefty fines on violators on Monday.
Following the directives of PFA’s Director General, official teams conducted inspections at grocery stores, milk shops, and fish markets in Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur, according to a statement by a PFA spokesperson. In Dera Ghazi Khan, three grocery stores at Traffic Chowk, Liaquat Bazaar, and Gadai (Chungi No 7) were fined Rs 45,000. At Quetta Road, a bakery was penalized with a Rs 10,000 fine for using non-traceable colors in food products, and a milk shop in the New Gadai area was fined Rs 12,000.

In Muzaffargarh, a fried fish vendor at Yadgaar Chowk was fined Rs 30,000 for using unsuitable oil for cooking, while another fish seller was fined Rs 25,000 for selling fish with a foul odor. Additionally, two milk collection centers were fined Rs 35,000 for using chemicals without labeling.
In Khangarh, a total fine of Rs 30,000 was imposed on sweets and bakery units for using banned China salt and non-traceable colors. A grocer at Chak Shaheed Adda, Rajanpur, was fined Rs 10,000 for selling banned China salt.
