The first phase of Pakistan’s largest biomethane gas project has been inaugurated in Gadap, Karachi. Named the Biogas Power Generator, this project aims to produce clean energy from animal waste. Developed by Bio Waste Energy Ventures Private Limited, the plant will convert cow and buffalo dung into biomethane gas, promoting sustainable energy solutions.
According to Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, this initiative will help protect the environment by reducing waste and promoting clean energy. The plant is expected to generate 23,000 cubic meters of biomethane gas daily, producing 4-5 MW of electricity. This energy will serve as an alternative power source for industries and households, reducing reliance on traditional fuels.

Additionally, the project will utilize the heat and ash residues from gas production to manufacture bricks, contributing to construction activities while minimizing waste. The Sindh government is actively encouraging businesses and dairy farmers to invest in similar renewable energy initiatives, aiming to accelerate Pakistan’s shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
This initiative represents a significant step toward reducing carbon emissions, improving waste management, and enhancing renewable energy production in Pakistan. As the project expands, it is expected to create new business opportunities and contribute to a cleaner, greener future.
