The final decision on the moon sighting will be officially announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

SUPARCO Predicts Moon Will Not Be Sighted Today

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has predicted that the Ramazan moon will not be sighted today (February 28, 2025), suggesting that the holy month will begin on March 2.

According to SUPARCO, the new moon will be born on February 28 at 05:45 PST, but at sunset, its age will be just 12 hours, and its altitude will be 5 degrees, making it difficult to sight. The commission further explained that for visibility, the moon’s age must be at least 19 hours.

Awaiting the Official Decision

While scientific forecasts suggest that the moon sighting is unlikely, the final official announcement will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after deliberations later today.
