SUPARCO Issues NOC for Starlink’s Operations
The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has confirmed that the licensing process for Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, is moving forward in phases. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) has already been issued for the company’s operations in Pakistan.

Licensing Fee and Application Submission
Starlink has submitted its license application, along with technical and financial plans, and is required to pay a $640,000 licensing fee to the PTA. The regulatory authority is currently conducting an internal review before making a final decision. This review will be overseen by the PTA chairman and three senior PTA members, with the license expected to be granted in the coming weeks.
Starlink’s Future Operations in Pakistan
Once the license is approved, Starlink will be allowed to:
- Accept customer bookings for its satellite internet service.
- Deploy infrastructure, including the installation of its equipment across Pakistan.
- Establish two to three ground stations to support its operations.
Affordable Internet for Remote Areas
Starlink’s arrival could bridge the digital divide by providing internet access to remote regions beyond the reach of cable internet and cellular networks. Pricing is expected to be more affordable in Pakistan compared to the US and other developed nations.
