A Fast-Track to Citizenship for Wealthy Investors

The United States is issuing 1,000 “Gold Card” visas daily through a controversial investor program introduced by former President Donald Trump. The program, which requires a $5 million investment, offers a direct path to U.S. citizenship and is set to replace the existing EB-5 investor visa program.

Ambitious Goals: One Million Visas Planned

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, speaking on the All-In Podcast, revealed that there are 37 million potential buyers worldwide, with the administration aiming to sell one million Gold Card visas. “The president believes we can sell a million,” Lutnick stated, adding that billionaire investor John Paulson helped conceptualize the program, while Elon Musk is reportedly assisting with its software infrastructure.

A Boon for Revenue, But Criticism Grows

While the program is expected to generate significant revenue for the U.S. economy, it has drawn criticism for favoring wealthy individuals while the government continues efforts to deport undocumented immigrants. Critics argue that the initiative creates a two-tiered immigration system that prioritizes financial power over merit or humanitarian concerns.

Trump’s Immigration Strategy and Congressional Bypass

Despite concerns over its rollout, Trump has emphasized that the Gold Card visa program will bypass congressional approval, making it a key part of his broader immigration reform agenda.
