In an effort to promote healthier lifestyles among students, the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) has directed all educational institutions across the province to ban the sale of junk food within their premises. This includes schools, colleges, and other learning centers.

Letters have been sent to the Secretary of School Education, College Education, and Local Government Department by the SFA, urging a strict ban on the sale of fried snacks such as papad, colorful chips, soft drinks, and energy drinks on school and college campuses.

The directive refers to a 2018 notification aimed at safeguarding students’ health, calling for strict implementation and regular monitoring of food courts and canteens in educational institutions.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar, the district administration has enforced Section 144, banning the sale of junk food within a 150-meter radius of schools. The notification, issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar, includes legal action against vendors found selling substandard chips and unhealthy snacks. The order will remain in effect for 30 days.

Additionally, Section 144 has been imposed around Peshawar Airport for two months, prohibiting aerial firing, kite flying, pigeon flying, and the use of laser lights near the airport vicinity. These measures aim to enhance aviation safety and public security.
