Dubai has enacted a new Public Health Law aimed at safeguarding both residents and travelers from the spread of contagious diseases. The Public Health Law No. (5) of 2025 was introduced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.

Under the new law, travelers are required to immediately report any suspected or confirmed communicable diseases to the authorities. It also mandates strict hygiene protocols, including wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing, especially for individuals feeling unwell. Those who are infected or suspected of carrying contagious diseases must avoid contact with others and refrain from traveling unless authorized by the Dubai Health Authority for medical reasons. Deliberately hiding infections or intentionally spreading diseases is strictly prohibited.
