A widely followed X (formerly Twitter) account named “Balochistan Army” has come under scrutiny for spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda—despite not being operated by a Pakistani or a member of the Baloch community. Investigations have revealed that the account is actually run by an Indian national from Bihar with links to a Hindutva group.
With over 67,000 followers, the account falsely claims to represent the Baloch people and their struggle, using this identity to push narratives against Pakistan—particularly concerning its southwestern province of Balochistan. The operator’s impersonation of a Baloch activist was aimed at misleading users and influencing both regional and international perceptions.
This exposure highlights the broader issue of disinformation campaigns being waged through social media. By appearing to be an internal voice from Pakistan, the account successfully deceived many and fueled geopolitical tension.
