Saudi Arabia has made history by becoming the first country to open an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered doctor clinic, setting a new benchmark in global healthcare innovation.
Launched in April 2025, the clinic is the result of a partnership between Shanghai-based Synyi AI and Saudi Arabia’s Almoosa Health Group. Located in the eastern region of Al Ahsa, the facility introduces “Dr. Hua,” an AI virtual doctor that offers consultations and diagnostic services.
This marks Synyi AI’s first international expansion after working with over 800 hospitals in China since its founding in 2016.
How the AI Clinic Works
Patients interact with Dr. Hua using a tablet. After entering their symptoms, the AI follows up with questions, analyzes medical data such as ECGs and X-rays, and generates a treatment plan. A licensed human doctor then reviews and approves the AI-generated diagnosis, maintaining a hybrid model that combines AI efficiency with human supervision.

Synyi AI’s CEO, Zhang Shaodian, explained the advancement: “AI has traditionally supported doctors. Now, it is capable of diagnosing and treating directly.”
High Accuracy with Some Limitations
The system boasts a remarkably low error rate of under 0.3%, based on internal tests. Currently, it handles 30 respiratory-related conditions, including asthma and pharyngitis. Plans are underway to expand its capabilities to include up to 50 conditions across respiratory, gastrointestinal, and dermatological areas within the next year.
Free Trial and Future Expansion
The clinic is offering free services during its trial phase to collect diagnostic data for Saudi health authorities. A full commercial launch will depend on regulatory approval.
