Google has officially launched the native NotebookLM app for both Android and iOS, offering a more refined and feature-rich experience just ahead of the I/O 2025 developer conference. This new mobile app delivers an improved interface, advanced multimedia capabilities, and better integration with system tools, enhancing productivity on the go.
Refreshed Interface and Seamless Navigation
The app opens to a sleek homepage showcasing notebooks as colorful cards. Users can sort them by Recent, Shared, Title, or Downloaded. It adapts to the system’s light or dark mode automatically. Each card displays the notebook title, emoji icon, number of sources, last modified date, and a play button for quick access to Audio Overviews.
Interactive Audio Overviews and Offline Support
NotebookLM’s Audio Overview lets users listen to AI-generated summaries in a podcast-like format. Background playback and offline functionality are supported, with a glowing visual animation during playback. Users can also interact with AI hosts (beta) by asking follow-up questions, creating a dynamic audio experience.

Smarter Content Import and Sharing
With the “Create new” button on the homepage, users can easily add new content from PDFs, websites, YouTube, or manually input text. The app integrates with Android and iOS share sheets, enabling fast source imports directly from other apps.
Organized Notebook Structure
Within each notebook, the layout is divided into three tabs: Sources, Chat Q&A, and Studio, mirroring the web version but with enhanced speed and responsiveness. The app is optimized for both smartphones and tablets, although it currently lacks full support for Google’s Material 3 design system.
Global Availability
The NotebookLM app is now available worldwide. Android users can download it from the Google Play Store, while iOS users can find it on the App Store. The release answers long-standing user requests for a standalone mobile app beyond the previous Progressive Web App (PWA).
