In a major stride towards digital transformation, Pakistan has granted its first-ever license for Blockchain-based High Performance Computing (HPC) to Higgs Computing Limited’s data center. The license was issued by the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), with support from key government bodies including the Ministry of IT and Telecom and the State Bank of Pakistan.

The HPC facility will integrate Blockchain technology with Artificial Intelligence and Big Data analytics, aiming to attract significant investment and generate between $1.5 to $2 million in foreign exchange annually. This initiative not only marks a technological milestone but also serves as a strategic solution for utilizing Pakistan’s surplus power capacity.

The data center will begin operations with an initial capacity of 7 megawatts of electricity. Officials highlight that the incorporation of Blockchain technology will boost transparency, data integrity, and security in digital processes.

Government representatives have described the move as a “revolutionary initiative,” emphasizing its importance in enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure and diversifying the national economy.
