Police in Islamabad are investigating the tragic murder of 17-year-old social media influencer Sana Yousaf, who was fatally shot in her home. The killing has intensified public concern over the safety of online influencers in Pakistan.
Sana’s father, Anwar-ul-Haq, a prominent member of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz Huqooq Chitral movement, issued a public statement describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy. In a video message, he clarified that the attack was not rooted in any personal conflict. “What happened to me is not because of any enmity or personal issue. This entire incident is a tragic accident,” he said.
Haq called on authorities to swiftly arrest the suspect and deliver justice. “I request the government to take the culprit into custody and bring him to justice. It is the duty of the institutions to punish the criminal,” he stated. He also emphasized that the people of Chitral are known for their peaceful nature and non-violent traditions.

The brutal attack occurred inside Sana’s home, where she was shot twice in the chest by a known acquaintance. Her mother and sister-in-law, both witnesses to the incident, are able to identify the perpetrator. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Sana succumbed to her injuries.
Sana Yousaf had garnered hundreds of thousands of followers for her content centered on cultural heritage, women’s rights, and youth empowerment. Her death has sparked widespread outrage and calls for stronger protections for women and influencers in Pakistan.
