Microsoft is once again revamping its Bing search engine, this time by incorporating an AI-powered video generator directly into the platform. Called Bing Video Creator, the tool utilizes OpenAI’s Sora to generate short video clips from simple text prompts.

The new feature is free to use and currently available on the Bing mobile app, with a desktop and Copilot Search rollout planned in the near future. This integration follows Microsoft’s earlier adoption of DALL-E’s AI image generation capabilities into Bing back in 2023, highlighting the company’s continued commitment to infusing advanced AI into its products.

Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI, and this latest addition builds on that long-term partnership. However, Sora’s debut has not been without controversy. It drew criticism and protests from early testers and sparked concerns from YouTube’s CEO, who cautioned against using YouTube’s video content to train the model.

Despite its powerful video generation abilities, Sora now faces growing competition, particularly from Google’s Veo 3, which some claim offers more advanced features. While OpenAI is expected to release an updated version of Sora, no official timeline has been announced yet.
