To manage the increased traffic on national highways and motorways after the Eid holidays, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has released an eight-point travel advisory aimed at ensuring road safety and easing congestion.

NHMP 8-Point Travel Advisory:

  1. Vehicle Check: Ensure your vehicle’s engine oil, tire pressure, water levels, brakes, and headlights are in good condition before setting off.

  2. Seat Belts and Helmets: All passengers must wear seat belts. Motorcyclists are required to wear helmets.

  3. Speed Limits: Adhere strictly to posted speed limits and avoid overspeeding, particularly during heavy traffic.

  4. Safe Distance: Maintain a safe following distance to allow room for sudden braking.

  1. Lane Discipline: Follow proper lane usage and comply with all road signs and markings.

  2. Rest Breaks: Take regular breaks every two hours to combat fatigue; avoid driving when sleepy.

  3. Emergency Readiness: Keep a first-aid kit, emergency contact numbers, and extra fuel on hand. In case of an emergency, contact NHMP at helpline 130.

  4. Report Violations: Passengers are encouraged to report overcharging, overloading, or reckless driving via the NHMP helpline.

To enhance public safety, NHMP has ramped up personnel deployment and patrols along major routes. Toll plaza staff are conducting safety briefings, while FM Radio 88.6 provides real-time traffic updates. The department is also running awareness campaigns on social media and through digital billboards, stressing the importance of responsible driving and strict adherence to safety protocols during the Eid travel period.
