Following the tragic crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in Ahmedabad, Indian media began circulating unfounded rumors blaming Turkish Technic, a major aircraft maintenance firm, for the disaster. However, these claims have been debunked by independent fact-checkers.

The aircraft, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick with 242 people on board, crashed on Thursday afternoon. In the aftermath, misleading images and videos went viral online, falsely implying the aircraft had been maintained by Turkish Technic.

Anadolu Agency’s Fact-Check Line thoroughly examined the rumors and confirmed they were baseless. The visuals being circulated actually depicted a Boeing 777 aircraft, not the 787-8 model involved in the crash.

Turkish Technic also released an official clarification, stating that their maintenance contract with Air India only includes Boeing 777 aircraft. They confirmed that the crashed 787 had never been serviced by their facilities in Istanbul.

Authorities and aviation analysts are now warning the public to avoid spreading misinformation, particularly during crisis situations. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and officials have committed to sharing accurate and timely updates.
