Several areas across Lahore have officially been declared no-bird zones as part of a sweeping safety initiative aimed at protecting aircraft and enhancing aviation security. This operation is being carried out under the leadership of Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb and the Secretary of Forests, and is being executed by the Wildlife Protection Force, headed by Chief Wildlife Ranger Rambin Elahi.

The Punjab government has issued clear directives to all relevant agencies and stakeholders, outlining the scope and enforcement mechanisms of this citywide plan. Areas falling under the no-bird zone ring fencing include Lahore Eastern Bypass, Manawan Hospital, PKLI, Chungi Amar Sadhu, Achhra, and Chah Miran.

A joint operation involving the district administration, Environmental Protection Force, and Wildlife Protection Force is in full swing in these critical locations. To discourage bird activity near sensitive aviation areas, a complete ban on littering has been imposed, and all garbage must now be disposed of in sealed bins.

Furthermore, slaughterhouses and poultry farms not adhering to environmental regulations face closure. The leather industry must also comply strictly with environmental standards. Public feeding of birds—such as throwing food or coins on rooftops or in courtyards—is now illegal. The keeping and flying of pigeons has been banned as well. Offenders will face arrests, heavy fines, and other legal consequences.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has set a deadline of July 30 for authorities to clear an 8-kilometer radius around all airports in Lahore. This campaign aims to significantly reduce bird strike risks and enhance overall flight safety. Government departments and wildlife teams are now working in close coordination to ensure compliance and implementation of the no-bird zones before the set deadline.
