Cnergyico (PSX: CNERGY) is set to make history by importing Pakistan’s first-ever crude oil cargo from the United States in October 2025, under a term agreement with global energy trader Vitol, according to a report by Reuters.

The shipment will consist of 1 million barrels of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, loaded from Houston this month and scheduled to arrive at Karachi during the second half of October. If the initial delivery proves successful, the imports may continue on a monthly basis.

This landmark move follows a recent US-Pakistan trade deal that introduced a 19% tariff on Pakistani exports, prompting the finance and petroleum ministries to encourage refineries to diversify crude sources and consider American oil.

Cnergyico, which operates Pakistan’s largest refinery with a daily capacity of 156,000 barrels, and owns the country’s only single-point mooring (SPM) terminal, is uniquely positioned to handle large-scale crude shipments directly to its coastal facility near Karachi.

The company confirmed that US crude is fully compatible with its existing systems and does not require blending, making the transition seamless. This initiative is expected to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on Middle Eastern oil suppliers, who currently fulfill the bulk of the country’s $11.3 billion annual oil import bill.

Additionally, Cnergyico is planning a second offshore terminal and long-term upgrades to its refinery infrastructure. Currently operating at 30–35% capacity due to sluggish demand, the company anticipates improved utilization rates as domestic consumption begins to rebound.
