The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly nearing the final stages of finalising the national squad for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 and the upcoming tri-nation series. According to local media reports, the official squad announcement is expected in the second week of August.
Insiders suggest the selectors are not planning any major overhauls, instead opting to stick with the core group of players who recently represented Pakistan in the limited-overs series against Bangladesh and the West Indies.
A major point of concern remains the fitness of Fakhar Zaman. The left-handed opener sustained a hamstring injury during the T20I series against the West Indies and was subsequently ruled out of the remaining matches, including the ODIs. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. His inclusion in the Asia Cup squad hinges on his recovery progress, which is being closely monitored by PCB’s medical team.

Meanwhile, hopes of Shadab Khan returning to the squad appear slim, with selectors not considering him for the upcoming fixtures.
Pakistan’s recent performances have been a mix of highs and lows. The team, led by Salman Ali Agha, faced a setback in the series against Bangladesh but bounced back impressively to clinch victory over the West Indies. Under the guidance of head coach Mike Hesson, the team is expected to carry that momentum into the tri-nation series against Afghanistan and the UAE in Sharjah—serving as a prelude to the Asia Cup.
Pakistan has been drawn into Pool A for the Asia Cup, where they will compete against arch-rivals India, Oman, and the UAE.
With the squad announcement just around the corner, fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation of Fakhar Zaman’s fitness and any unexpected selections ahead of one of the region’s most anticipated cricket tournaments.
