The district police of Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, are set to roll out a phased Safe City project aimed at ensuring comprehensive public safety, announced SSP Khurram Iqbal on Monday.
Addressing the Kashmir Press Club, the newly appointed SSP highlighted that the project would implement advanced surveillance measures, including the installation of CCTV cameras at key points across the district to monitor and deter criminal activity.
At present, 30 cameras are installed in the city, but only six are functional. Repair work is already in progress to restore full operations. SSP Iqbal further revealed plans to establish a dedicated women’s police station, form community policing units, and set up liaison committees to build trust between citizens and law enforcement.
