The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced plans to provide free Wi-Fi access at 35 prominent locations across Islamabad. These include major markets, Metro and Electric Feeder Bus stations, and public parks. The initiative aims to improve internet accessibility for citizens in high-traffic areas of the city.

The decision was made during a meeting held at CDA Headquarters, chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. During the meeting, officials stated that the CDA’s technical team would work closely with the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) for the successful implementation of the project.

NTC will be responsible for operating and maintaining the free Wi-Fi system. The ultimate goal is to transform Islamabad into Pakistan’s first city with comprehensive free Wi-Fi coverage. The CDA Chairman emphasized the need for a sustainable operational and marketing model to ensure long-term functionality, with generated revenue being reinvested into system upgrades and maintenance. He also stressed the importance of providing uninterrupted, high-quality service to users.
