The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced the successful restoration of 98% of telecom sites in Karachi that were impacted by recent heavy rains. Out of 2,764 affected sites, 2,707 have been fully restored, while efforts are ongoing to reactivate the remaining 57 sites.
According to the PTA, this massive recovery effort was made possible through close collaboration with telecom operators and support from local authorities. Restoration work began immediately after the rains and was largely completed within 72 hours, ensuring that communication services were quickly re-established across the city.
PTA praised the round-the-clock efforts of its teams and network providers, stating that the swift recovery demonstrates the resilience of Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure. The regulator highlighted that maintaining connectivity during such challenging weather conditions is essential for both public convenience and emergency response.
