The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has announced the launch of its first-ever School Nutrition Program, designed to improve children’s health and dietary habits.

In its first phase, the initiative will be rolled out in 40 schools across Lahore, targeting students from grades one to five. Under the program, children will receive nutritious lunchboxes containing rice, vegetables, pulses, and other healthy food items.

To fund the effort, PFA staff have pledged voluntary contributions from their salaries. The Director General will donate three months’ salary, officers will contribute two months, while staff members will give one month’s salary.

The PFA also plans to partner with NGOs to ensure the program’s effectiveness and reach. Additionally, a comprehensive health assessment will be conducted every three months to monitor children’s growth, vision, and overall well-being.

Officials emphasized that the authority will oversee every stage of the program—from meal preparation to distribution—ensuring food quality and safety for participating students.
