The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather alert, stating that a deep depression over North Gujarat (India) is likely to move westwards towards adjoining areas of Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.

As a result, strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate the southern half of the country, triggering widespread rain and thunderstorms in multiple regions.

Sindh

From 7th September (evening/night) to 10th September, Sindh is expected to witness widespread rain-wind/thundershowers with strong gusty winds. Scattered heavy to exceptionally very heavy rainfall is predicted in:

  • Tharparkar (Mithi, Islamkot, Nagarparkar, Chachro, Dhali, Diplo, Kaloi)
  • Umer Kot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad
  • Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Dadu, Kashmore, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Ghotki

Punjab & Islamabad

From 7th to 9th September, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are forecast for:

  • Central & Southern Punjab: Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Vehari, Khanewal, Multan, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Rajanpur, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan
  • Potohar & North Punjab: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad

Balochistan

Between 7th and 10th September, rain-wind/thundershowers with scattered heavy falls are likely in:

Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Zhob, Naseerabad, Bolan, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Pasni, Makran Coast, Gwadar


Kashmir

From 7th to 9th September, Kashmir is likely to receive rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls in:

Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur


Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

From 7th to 9th September, rain-wind/thundershowers are expected in:

Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Kurrum


Possible Impacts & Advisories

  • Urban and Coastal Flooding: Heavy downpours may cause flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas of Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Hyderabad, Dadu, Karachi.
  • Dam Levels: Water level in Hub Dam is expected to rise.
  • Flash Flooding: Possible in hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, eastern/southern Balochistan, and Kirthar Range (Dadu) between 8th and 10th September.
  • Landslides: Risk in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir, possibly leading to road closures.
  • Structural Damage: Strong winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall may damage weak structures, Kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels.
