The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported a significant improvement in the flood situation across major rivers, with water levels returning to normal in the Indus, Jhelum, Ravi, and Chenab rivers after weeks of devastating floods.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah stated all embankments are secure, and preparations are in place for a flood wave at Kotri next week.

Punjab Police, led by IG Dr Usman Anwar, have:

  • Rescued 822,900+ people, including:
    • 365,000+ men
    • 246,685 women
    • 211,178 children
  • Relocated 634,460 livestock to safety
  • Established:
    • 337 relief camps
    • 429 medical camps
    • 368 veterinary camps
  • 2.611 million people shifted from flood-hit areas
  • 2.089 million animals treated or relocated
  • 15,000+ police personnel deployed with 720 vehicles and 40 boats
  • Use of thermal imaging and drones for real-time flood monitoring

Top regional rescue stats:

  • Multan: 317,777 people rescued
  • Dera Ghazi Khan: 137,571 people rescued

At a high-level meeting, Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman:

  • Ordered extra tents and food for Uch Sharif
  • Directed on-site supervision by deputy commissioners
  • Set immediate priorities:
    • Drain floodwaters
    • Prevent disease outbreaks via fumigation and medicines
    • Restore damaged roads
    • Arrange temporary housing for displaced families

He emphasized that rapid rehabilitation of flood victims is the top priority of the government.
