Pakistan Telecommunications Authorities (PTA) has planned to bring 3G & 4G services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (G-B).
This initiative is taken to make Pakistan digitally equipped state with telecom services.
The implementation of these services is expected by February 2018.
PTA officials said that the “availability of 3G/4G services in such distant areas will eventually lead Pakistan towards socio-economic development. The installation of these services will also be supportive for the inhabitants living near CPEC routes in AJK and G-B.”
To accelerate the process of the auction for Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS), PTA is looking forward to hiring a consultancy firm to synopsis the base price and design plan of the auction procedure.
Currently, Pakistan has 44.4 million users of 3G/4G and the figure have risen up and growing speedily.
If things go according to the plan then with the arrival of these services in AJK and G-B, we will be seeing a fair augment in the number of 3G/4G users. As people of these regions are keen beavers to connect to the world digitally.
“NGMS in these areas will bring an investment of more than $100 million over the next two to three years,” reveals Parvez Iftikhar, who is an IT expert.
Certainly, there will be an advent in Local tourism and employment will be boosted with the initiation of 3G/4G services in AJK and G-B, as these areas are the core for tourists.
According to the policy directives of PTA, they will have a propensity to hire a local authority consultant who will consult with cellular service providers of Pakistan and related authorities of AJK and G-B to advise a base price after observing telecom markets of these areas.
Authorities of G-B and AJK have accepted and approved the policy for introducing 3G/4G services and requested PTA to make required arrangements.
But the real and tough job for PTA is to find consultants for this job as it’s quite easier said than done and PTA is eager to launch services before February in any case.
