Chipmaker giant Qualcomm is already working on its next-generation Snapdragon 800 series processor. It has indeed been reported that the new chipset will actually be called as the Snapdragon 895. Details with respect to production have now also been revealed.

Reliable leaker in Ice Universe has actually gone on to reveal that the Snapdragon 895 will actually be a 4nm chipset and will be manufactured by Samsung. There will also indeed be a Snapdragon 895 Plus/Snapdragon 895+ which should end up launching in the second half of next year and will be manufactured by TSMC.

It is indeed rather interesting to see that Qualcomm is moving to a smaller node size just a year after making the move from 7nm to 5nm. However, of course, that isn’t to say that it will no longer make 5nm chips. We should indeed still see the new Snapdragon 800 as well as Snapdragon 700 series 5nm chips.

While it is indeed likely that it will also be announced in December, it’s not very likely that we will see it on a phone this year. And as far as the next year goes, we’re not exactly quite clear and sure as to whether we will see it on a phone next year either. The element of surprise is certainly there and we shall see what will happen as time progresses.

Nonetheless, Qualcomm and other chipmakers are certainly making moves in the market. This of course comes after all the chip shortages that have made the news in recent times. Of course, the chip shortages have also meant that the highly anticipated Sony Ps5 has been met with a lack of production – due to which the prices associated with the console have actually gone on to skyrocket. The excess demand still continues as Sony moves towards more production.
