Sources say over 700 public colleges across the province of Punjab are using the Online College Admissions System (OCAS) to process intermediate admissions applications for their FA, FSC, ICS programs. The application was developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab to make the intermediate colleges admissions process faster, efficient and transparent.

OCAS has processed almost one million applications during the previous few years.

OCAS is scheduled to be made available for the Intermediate admissions cycle 2017 at public colleges for the coming academic year. OCAS will be available once the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) declare matric results.

Through a simple online form on OCAS, candidates can apply to a particular college/ program.

Always Online and Connected

Online College Applications System (OCAS) is providing a web-based facility for applicants to submit online admission application(s).

The solution is the result of a collaborative relationship between Higher Education Department, 9 Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) of Punjab, Bank of Punjab and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).

Time Saving in Admissions

The BISE matriculation data of students is uploaded by this app into the system enabling candidates accessing the system by entering an only minimum set of information (Matric Roll Number, BISE, Year and Session).

Candidates can apply to college/ program through a simple and online form. In addition to this, candidates can download and print their application fee slip through the system.

Main objectives of the system include reduction of  the number of physical visits to students and their parents to colleges as the admissions process gets to start, with an object to keep the admissions process transparent, that considerably reduce the application compilation and merit list preparation time by pushing the labor-intensive and error-prone, back-office data entry activities to the end-users.

The features of the system include 24/7 access, capability to apply from any place with internet access.  Means that no more queues and students can track admissions application status via college website easily. The app also features the tighter integration with results from BISE.
