The Cabinet Division has given a warning regarding apps that are believed to be involved in the collection of personal information from users.

The company has sent an email to various departments and other organizations, explaining that there are some apps that are available on the Google Play Store that offer interest on money but collect information from users when they utilize the apps. It pointed out that apps such as Olivecash or Barwaqt are part of this scam. Both apps offer interest-free money immediately after users sign into the app. The apps collect details of the users’ personal details and then use it for illegal purposes.

Cabinet Division has warned users to stay away from downloading such applications. Cabinet Division has warned users not to download such applications or sharing personal data with them.

The agency has also instructed organisations to distribute information on these applications to their subordinates departments and divisions and to implement the appropriate security measures.

Copies of the letter were delivered at the request of the Secretary to Prime Minister as well as the secretary of the president and Cabinet Secretary the additional Secretary Cabinet Division, the DG Technical ISI and to the Director IT Cabinet Division.
