Aamir Liaquat Hussain, a MNA and famous television show host found dead at his Karachi home on Thursday.

He was 49 years old.

According to reports, the televangelist and politician from Karachi was found unconscious at home and was taken to a provincial hospital.

Pervaiz Ashraf, the National Speaker, confirmed the news and postponed the session to commemorate the passing of the lawmaker. The proceedings of the house were rescheduled for tomorrow at 5 p.m. due to his passing.

Sources claim that the televangelist kept the door to his room locked, and that his house staff repeatedly knocked on the door to no avail.

According to staff, Aamir felt unwell last night and complained of chest pains. The ex-lawmaker was transferred to the hospital from his home in Khudadad Colony.

Separately, the driver for the ex-MNA stated to the police that they heard a “scream coming from his [Aamir] room” the day before.

Police say that the body of the deceased would be moved to Jinnah Hospital or Civil Hospital to undergo post-mortem. After which, it would be handed to the immediate family.

Aamir Liaquat was an MQM-P member before joining the PTI. He was a state minister in the government of Gen Pervez Musharraf, a military dictator. He was twice elected to the National Assembly: in 2002, and again in 2018.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Al Ali Shah, former president Asif Aziz Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairperson, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former governor of Sindh Imran Ismail, expressed their sorrow at the loss and asked for his soul.

On July 5, 1972, the televangelist was created. Two children survived him.
