The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is revising broadband internet rules that will improve Internet speeds for a lot of Pakistanis. In addition to discussing internet speeds in Pakistan, the telecom regulator also attended the Consumer Conference this year.

It is recommended that you get at least 80% of the advertised speed (up from 256 Kbps) between 4Mbps and 256Kbps by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). As an example, if you have a 10Mbps Broadband connection, you should always have at least 8Mbps speed. PTA can be officially notified if it falls below that.

This should improve Broadband internet speeds in a lot of regions in the country, especially remote areas where download speeds are lackluster. You can now complain to PTA if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides you with anything below 4Mbps if they call themselves a ‘broadband’ provider.

Additionally, those who get less than 80% of their internet connection speeds will benefit from this development. We are unsure whether it applies only to download speeds or uploads and downloads together. PTCL customers are frequently disappointed with their internet speeds, so there may be some hope for them.
