Rare Whale Spotted for the First Time in Pakistan [Video]

Local fishermen recently captured footage of a rare black whale while fishing approximately 2 to 3 kilometers from the coastline in the sea. The fishermen showcased their excitement in the recorded video, with some urging caution and others light-heartedly mistaking the whale for a shark.

This sighting echoes a similar event in 2020 when a humpback whale was spotted off the coast of Balochistan. Viral footage on social media depicted the majestic creature leaping out of the water. It was local fishermen who stumbled upon the whale while fishing near the shores of Balochistan and shared the remarkable encounter on various social media platforms.

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, a Technical Advisor from the World Wide Fund (WWF) emphasized the endangered status of the humpback whale, as classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, with only about 100 individuals remaining worldwide. He highlighted the whale’s habitat, which spans the waters of Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Oman, and Iran.
