The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has established two Anomaly Committees to address and rectify errors found in the Finance Bill 2024, and to eliminate discrepancies in the proposed tax laws for the fiscal year 2024-25.
In notifications issued on Saturday, the FBR stated that the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue and Secretary of the Revenue Division has formed an Anomaly Committee to identify and resolve business-related anomalies in the Finance Bill 2024. This committee includes the following members:

Anomaly Committee – Business:

- Co-Chairpersons: Ashhad Jawwad, Member (Customs-Policy), FBR; Amna Faiz Bhatty, Member (IR-Policy), FBR
- Members:
- Kashif Anwar, President, LCCI, Lahore
- Iftikhar Ahmad Sheikh, President, KCCI, Karachi
- Muhammad Fuad Ishaq, President, Sarhad Chamber, Peshawar
- Haji Abdullah Achakzai, President, Quetta Chamber
- Ahsan Zafar, President, Islamabad Chamber
- Dr. Khurram Tariq, President, Faisalabad Chamber
- Khurram Mukhtar, Patron, PTEA, Faisalabad

The committee’s Terms of Reference (TOR) include reviewing business-related anomalies identified in the Finance Bill 2024 and providing recommendations to the FBR for their removal. The committee has the discretion to co-opt additional members if necessary. Anomalies should be submitted by the close of office hours on June 20, 2024, to the Co-Chairpersons at their offices in Room No. 316 (Customs) and Room No. 355 (IR), 3rd Floor, FBR House, Islamabad.
In another notification, the Chairman of the FBR and Secretary of the Revenue Division has constituted a second Anomaly Committee to address technical anomalies in the Finance Bill 2024.

This committee’s TOR involves reviewing technical anomalies in the Finance Bill 2024 and recommending solutions to the FBR. Similar to the business committee, this committee can also co-opt additional members if needed. Technical anomalies should be submitted by the close of office hours on June 20, 2024, to the Co-Chairpersons at Room No. 316 (Customs) and Room No. 355 (IR), 3rd Floor, FBR House, Islamabad.
