Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, is expanding its capabilities with deeper integration across popular Google services like Calendar, Drive, Docs, Maps, YouTube, and more. On Android, Gemini also works with third-party apps like Spotify, OpenStax, WhatsApp, and now — Google Photos.
The updated version of Gemini, first previewed last month, is now rolling out to devices, as spotted by 9to5Google. The new update introduces two major features:
🔍 Smarter Photo Search
Gemini can now browse your backed-up images in Google Photos and help you search by faces, locations, and dates. Users can even prompt Gemini with specific requests like:
- “Show recent selfies”
- “Find photos of landscapes”
💡 Context-Aware Queries
The assistant can also handle more advanced and data-driven questions, such as:
- “Where did I eat vegan food in Lisbon?”
- “What is the driver’s license of the Ferrari I saw in Bergamo?”
When you select a result, Gemini will directly open the relevant image in the Photos app. You can also explore more results using the “Show more” option.
