Rockstar Games is hard at work on what is shaping up to be the most anticipated video game in history — Grand Theft Auto 6. The first trailer, which dropped at the end of 2023, shattered multiple world records, setting the gaming world abuzz. However, the exact release date of GTA 6 remains officially unconfirmed.
GTA 6: Expected Release Timeline
So far, the only official detail Rockstar has shared is a broad Autumn 2025 release window. But a new leak is now helping to narrow that down.
Interestingly, the leak surfaced alongside another high-profile project from Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar’s parent company). The game Mafia: The Old Country was recently spotted on Steam with a potential launch date of August 8, 2025.

Given the crowded AAA game release calendar — with Borderlands 4 and NBA 2K26 reportedly scheduled for September 2025 — it seems unlikely that Rockstar would risk launching GTA 6 too close to these titles, as big releases often avoid overlapping to maximize sales.
That leaves October or November 2025 as the most likely candidates for GTA 6’s debut. Launching during this period would also position the game perfectly for the holiday season rush and secure its eligibility for nomination at The Game Awards, typically held in December.
Of course, until Rockstar makes an official announcement, this remains speculative — but the late 2025 window seems more and more plausible.
