In a significant relief measure, the government has extended the deadline for electricity bill payments in response to the challenges posed by the recent conflict. The decision, praised as a timely and considerate move, aims to support those citizens who were unable to pay their utility bills during the ongoing tension and military escalation in various regions.

According to a notification issued by WAPDA, all electricity consumers whose original bill submission deadlines fell between May 7 and May 12, 2025, are now allowed to pay their bills without incurring any late payment surcharge. The new deadline for bill submission has been extended to May 15, 2025.

This relief measure targets a wide range of affected citizens, especially those in conflict-hit areas who have faced disruptions in movement, communication, and access to public services. Many consumers had expressed concern about not being able to clear their dues on time due to curfews or safety concerns. This extension will help ease their burden.

WAPDA has advised all eligible consumers to visit their respective sub-divisional offices and obtain updated bills reflecting the new due date. Once reissued, bills can be paid without penalties at designated banks or payment centers.

This step by the government reflects a responsive and compassionate approach in times of crisis. It also sets a positive precedent for extending administrative support to the public during emergencies.
