The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is optimistic about recovering Rs. 250 billion currently entangled in legal disputes within the next two months, according to official sources speaking to NetMag.
Sources revealed that special constitutional benches have been established in both the Supreme Court and High Court to fast-track decisions on high-stakes tax cases. Out of the Rs. 850 billion tied up in litigation, the FBR is confident of securing a favorable verdict on Rs. 250 billion, with proceedings now being conducted on a daily basis to accelerate outcomes.

Recently, the FBR successfully recovered Rs. 20 billion from two prominent companies. However, disputes involving Rs. 200 billion in super tax claims remain unresolved, while another Rs. 600 billion is pending across various tax tribunals.
The intensified legal push reflects the FBR’s strategy to enhance revenue collection and reduce the backlog of contested tax liabilities.
