The federal government has launched efforts to implement pension reforms in accordance with the conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, sources told ProPakistani. As part of this initiative, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has instructed all field offices to compile and submit comprehensive data on retired employees who were reappointed to government service.

The directive specifically targets employees from grades 1 to 16 who have been rehired post-retirement, whether on a regular or contractual basis. Offices have been given a deadline of May 26 to submit the required information.

The data must include the individual’s retirement date, duration of reemployment, and full details concerning salaries and pensions. The aim is to identify financial overlaps and prevent individuals from drawing both a pension and a government salary at the same time.

Sources added that under the proposed reforms, individuals rehired after the age of 60 may soon have to choose between receiving a government salary or continuing to receive their pension, but not both.
