Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of a new direct flight route from Lahore to Paris, marking a major milestone in the airline’s efforts to rebuild its European network.

Weekly Direct Service Begins June 18
In a statement released on Thursday, the national flag carrier confirmed that non-stop flights from Lahore to the French capital will commence on June 18. These flights will operate weekly, with scheduled departures every Wednesday. This new route aims to provide greater convenience and connectivity for passengers traveling between Pakistan and Europe.

European Operations Resume After Four-Year Suspension
This development follows the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) decision earlier this year to lift a ban imposed on PIA in July 2020. The ban was enforced after a scandal involving fake pilot licenses came to light, prompting regulators to suspend the airline’s access to EU airspace. PIA resumed its European operations in January with a direct Islamabad-to-Paris flight.

The airline expects the new Lahore-Paris service to attract a mix of business travelers, tourists, and members of the Pakistani diaspora residing in France and neighboring countries. The direct connection will reduce travel time and offer a reliable alternative to transit flights, boosting convenience and passenger confidence.

As the only Pakistani airline currently operating direct routes to the European Union, PIA views this expansion as a critical step in regaining customer trust and increasing revenue streams. Airline officials have expressed optimism that the restoration of European services will strengthen PIA’s global presence and support its long-term recovery plans.
