No Temporary Joy Rides for Children During Eid Holidays
The Punjab government has announced a ban on all temporary mechanical swings for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holidays, following a directive from the Punjab Home Department. This move aims to prevent accidents and protect the safety of families and children who visit funfairs and amusement parks during the festive season.
The ban specifically targets temporary mechanical rides, which are often set up without adequate safety precautions, particularly concerning overloading. Permanent mechanical rides operating within established amusement parks are exempt from this ban, provided they comply with strict safety regulations.
The Home Department has mandated that all permanent rides must possess valid fitness certificates issued by the relevant Deputy Commissioners. District administrations have been tasked with inspecting these rides and ensuring full compliance with the new safety guidelines. Deputy Commissioners are responsible for strictly enforcing the ban on temporary rides throughout the Eid holidays.
Highlighting the risks, the Home Department noted that temporary rides, which often lack proper engineering inspections, pose significant dangers to public safety during peak usage times.
