Following Israel’s large-scale airstrikes on Iran, former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Tehran on Friday, urging Iranian leaders to “make a deal” to avoid further “death and destruction.”

Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump referenced the deadly Israeli operation that targeted 100 sites across Iran, including nuclear facilities, and led to the killing of senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists. Iran has labeled the strikes a “declaration of war.”

“I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal,” Trump wrote. He emphasized Israel’s military strength, pointing out that it possesses advanced weaponry provided by the United States. “They know how to use it,” he added.

“There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to stop this slaughter. The next wave of attacks will be even more brutal,” Trump warned. “Iran must make a deal before there is nothing left… JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said he had been briefed about the Israeli strikes in advance and stressed that Iran must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. He also indicated a desire to return to negotiations with Iran.

During his previous term, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 nuclear deal that aimed to ease sanctions in return for limits on Iran’s nuclear program. According to Fox News, Trump’s administration informed at least one key Middle Eastern ally ahead of the Israeli assault, though he insisted the U.S. did not participate in the operation.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed Trump’s position, confirming that the U.S. was not involved in the strikes and reiterating that the protection of American forces in the region remains a top priority. He also warned Iran against targeting U.S. interests or personnel.

Trump is scheduled to attend a National Security Council meeting on Friday as the situation in the Middle East continues to escalate.
